State, education and industry leaders are coming together to discuss how best to use $150 million in training funds that have been allocated to workforce boards in Texas.
Leaders from the Texas Workforce Commission, community colleges, workforce boards and businesses will meet April 22 at the Sheraton Austin Hotel in downtown Austin for an all-day Texas Economy Conference.
Texas workforce boards are anticipating $150 million in training funds from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.
“The training funds will fuel efforts to help Texans secure employment through training, and expand existing Workforce Investment Act programs for adult, youth, and dislocated workers, and local Wagner-Peyster Employment Services,” the Texas Workforce Commission said in a statement.
Gov. Rick Perry will speak at the conference from 1:15-1:30 p.m.
