San Marcos — Embassy Suites San Marcos – Hotel, Spa and Conference Center received the Employer Award of Excellence from the Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area at the Texas Workforce Commission's (TWC) 13th Annual Texas Workforce Conference in Grapevine.

The award honors employers that are actively involved with their local workforce board and that have made a positive impact on employers, workers and the community.

“Texas employers that use valuable services available from their local workforce development boards have a distinct advantage in the marketplace,” TWC commissioner representing the public Andres Alcantar said. “I'd like to congratulate Embassy Suites San Marcos – Hotel, Spa and Conference Center and Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area for their contribution to their region and the state of Texas.”

To address growth opportunities in San Marcos, Embassy Suites San Marcos collaborated with Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area and the city of San Marcos to accommodate the growing need for hotel and meeting space along the IH-35 corridor.

The hotel and spa opened in late 2008, bringing more than 200 jobs to the area.

Officials said that through every development phase, the hotel management turned to Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area for hiring needs, local labor market information and recruitment assistance.

The facility hosts groups of up to 3,000 people, supporting continued economic development.

Workforce Solution Rural Capital Area is one of 28 local workforce boards throughout the state.

The board serves Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lee, Llano and Williamson counties.

The primary goal of TWC and workforce boards is to respond to the needs of Texas employers and workers through locally designed, market-driven workforce development initiatives and services.

All employers, workers and job seekers are eligible to take advantage of these services.
