TWC Requests $1,423,992 in Federal Funds
In response to the damage caused by wildfires in Texas, the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) today announced that the agency has requested $1,423,992 in Disaster Relief Employment from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to fund 60 temporary jobs in the area, an increase from the initial request for $712,685.

Disaster Unemployment Assistance Now Available in 23 Texas Counties
AUSTIN – Workers who lost their jobs and self-employed individuals who have been unable to work due to wildfires in Navarro County may now apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) with the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) as a result of an expansion of the Presidential Disaster Declaration (FEMA 4029-DR). Anderson, Bastrop, Caldwell, Cass, Colorado, Fayette, Henderson, Hill, Gregg, Grimes, Harrison, Houston, Leon, Marion, Montgomery, Rusk, Smith, Travis, Upshur, Walker, Waller and Williamson counties had previously been approved to receive assistance under the declaration.
